Wednesday, Feb 8 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. – “Under the Starry Sky” with Dr. Joshua Thomas, Asst Professor of Physics at Clarkson University will speak at The Nature Center’s temporary location in the St. Lawrence Center Mall in Massena!
He will explain the night sky, its stars, the constellations, and the Milky Way as we see it in the north country at this time of the year.
This is great timing for this event because the Full Moon appears on Friday the 10th and Saturday the 11th is the Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe on our trails!

This event is free and all are invited to attend!

Saturday, Feb 11 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. – Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe! Come Cross-country ski or snowshoe under the moonlit sky!! Free ski and snowshoe equipment loans for the event!
Come to the shed behind the maintenance building at The Nature Center site.

Saturday, Feb 18 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Winter Chill – Survival Skills!
As participation in the free Winter Chill activities for this Saturday, Joel will explain how to stay safe and warm should an emergency occur while you are out enjoying nature this winter. We will help to collect the materials needed that Joel will use to build a fire in the snow, and build a shelter from the winter elements to survive in. He will also explain the best practices for dressing for the cold!!
Come to the shed behind the maintenance building at The Nature Center site.

Monday, Feb 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day Camp: Clouds – Kids will learn how clouds are formed and their meanings! There will be crafts, science experiments, and games throughout the week as kids have fun learning about weather!! – Held at temporary Nature Center location in the St. Law. Ctr. Mall.
Free, kids ages 5-12!

Tuesday, Feb 21 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day Camp: Rainy Days – Kids will learn about precipitation: rain, snow, sleet, hail! There will be crafts, science experiments, and games throughout the week as kids have fun learning about weather!! – Held at Hawkins Point Visitors Center
Free, kids ages 5-12!

Wednesday, Feb 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day Camp: Testing Equipment – Kids will learn how to use thermometers, barometers, and other tools to determine the weather. There will be crafts, science experiments, and games throughout the week as kids have fun learning about weather!! – Held at Hawkins Point

Thursday, Feb 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day Camp: Meteorology – Using tools and science, kids will practice predicting the weather. There will be crafts, science experiments, and games throughout the week as kids have fun learning about weather!! – Held at Hawkins Point Visitors Center
Free, kids ages 5-12!

Friday, Feb 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Day Camp: Weather Forecasts: – Using their tools tools, a map, and their predictions, the kids will present their own weather forecasts to the group as a wrap up for this week’s weather activities!! Held at Hawkins Point

Sunday, Feb 26 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. – Winter Chill – Snowshoe Games! – Try “Simon Says”, a quick game of tag, or run in an “Egg and Spoon Race” on snowshoes!! You will be joining in on the fun for the 2017’s Lake St. Lawrence Winter Chill event happening in our area!! We will be located in our normal ski/snowshoe spot behind the maintenance building, and will provide the snowshoes for the event! Free and open to all!
